Hardanger: Dove’s eye filling

Doves eye filling

Dove’s eye can be added after needleweaving, but it is best worked at the same time. Whilst needleweaving the last side of a square, work to the centre of the bar, then bring the needle out through the central void. Pierce the neighbouring Kloster block or needlewoven bar halfway along its length, bringing the needle up through the void and through the loop formed by the thread.

Continue around the square, following the diagram, but before resuming the needleweaving, loop the needle under the first stitch to form the final twist in the dove’s eye.
