Herringbone stitch
This simple and decorative stitch is often used on band samplers. It is shown here worked over four threads diagonally and under two horizontally. It can be worked over two and under one to make it smaller, or over and under more threads to make it larger.
(Also known as plaited stitch, catch stitch, fishnet stitch, witch stitch, Mossoul stitch, Persian stitch or Russian stitch.)
